Officer positions are as follows: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Chair, Social Chair/Historian, Green/Outreach Chair (see descriptions below). In order to run for a position, we require that you be a paid member for the last semester and commit to attending weekly meetings for the 2018-2019 school year.

If you are interested in running for any of these positions please fill out our interest form here and participate in officer elections this coming Tuesday night!

See information on each position below:

President: The role of President is an all-encompassing position that requires a wholehearted approach to service. The position is accountable to the organization members, officers, and advisor as well as the faculty and staff of the department. The president also serves as the liaison spokesperson for the student body to the department and college as well as the go-to representative for all chapter activities. In practicality, it is to represent, assist, manage and plan all aspects of the organization.

Vice-President: The Vice President’s main duties are to contact companies/universities/professors about possible events with ACS, to reserve rooms for chapter meetings or events, to attend events ACS is involved in, and to help the President/officers as needed.

Secretary: To take meeting notes, create general meeting PowerPoints, and carry out responsibilities given by other officers.

Treasurer: The treasurer keeps track of all chapter expenses; this includes managing the chapter SOFC account, reimbursing officers for chapter-related purchases, buying/picking up food prior to general meetings and carrying out any large transactions such as buying t-shirts or model kits.

Communications Chair: Communicate information to the chapter using both bulk email and the chapter website. Weekly emails are sent detailing upcoming events such as meetings and volunteer opportunities. In addition, the chapter website is updated with posts about upcoming event, past meeting PowerPoints, and the chapter calendar.

Social Chair/Historian: To plan and schedule social events, take pictures of events, handle/update social media accounts, and update the chapter poster board.

Green/Community Outreach Chair: Coordinate outreach events in the Bryan-College State area; these events include local science fairs, the Chemistry Open House and Big Event. Plan and coordinate three Green-Chemistry events to achieve Green Recognition for the chapter.
